One on One Treatment with a Doctor of Physical Therapy

All treatments will be one on one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. No more spending 5 minutes with your therapist and then being passed off to someone else to do exercises. This allows us to work on something as much or as little as needed without any sort of distractions or interruptions. Dr. Torrez, PT, DPT is a Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist and is knowledgeable in various manual therapy techniques to assist with improving pain and muscle function. She a certified in Vestibular Rehab, Graston Technique, has training with spinal manipulation, Blood Flow Restriction Training certified, Rocktape certified, has training in Total Motion Release, and is SFMA Certified. With the SFMA (Selective Movement Assessment), she is able to look at various movements that may be contributing to pain and dysfunction. These tools allow us to explore various treatment options that are conducive to your recovery and healing.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping is a manual therapy technique/treatment where various cups are placed on the body in combination with suction which creates a vacuum effect and lifts your tissues. The amount of suction can vary and there are several ways the cups can be utilized. The most common form of cupping is static cupping where a cup is applied to an area and left in place for a set amount of time. Dynamic cupping is where cups are placed on a partialar area of the body while the patient performs various movements. Myofascial dragging is another method where the therapist will use a medium that will allow the cup to be moved along tissues, creating a lifting and sheering affect. Your therapist will incorporate all 3 styles of cupping into your body work. Cupping is great for treating painful, tight tissues, and trigger points. It promotes blood flow to your tissues, improves tissue extensibility and assists in improving movement patterns.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling is where a thin monofilament needle penetrates the skin and treats underlying muscular trigger points for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Trigger points are tight and contracted tissues within the muscle fibers that can cause pain and disrupt muscle function, including range of motion and the firing of muscles at the appropriate times. Dry needling treats dysfunctional tissue by creating a small injury to the tissues allowing fresh blood and nutrients to flush through the tissue, causing disruption within the trigger point and making it inactive. It works great as a standalone treatment but works even better when combined with cupping, scraping and exercise.
